The Christmas season is our favorite time of the year! First and foremost because it is a time to stop and remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; but also because there are so many wonderful sights and sounds to take in all over North Texas!

Here are some of our favorite upcoming holiday events in the Dallas area:

12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum — Now through Jan. 4, 2015

A new Christmas tradition is beginning in Dallas with the 12 Days of Christmas display at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. The one-of-a-kind exhibit features an elaborate collection of 25-foot Victorian gazebos, each one encased in glass and decorated to provide a 3-D display of mechanical parts and music, bringing the classic Christmas song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, to life. Get all the details here.

Panther Ice Island — Now through Jan. 19, 2015

Outdoor ice skating is hard to come by in North Texas, but Panther Ice Island at Coyote Drive-In in Fort Worth has you covered. This year’s ice rink is bigger than ever, and is the perfect place for some winter family fun. The price of admission includes skate rental, and you do not need a ticket to the drive-in to access the ice rink. There are also several discounts available, so be sure to check out the website before buying tickets.

The Trains at NorthPark Center — Now through Jan. 4, 2015

For 27 years, the Trains at NorthPark Center have delighted children and adults. The beautiful display of trains, which includes 1,600 feet of indoor track is a benefit for the Ronald McDonald House.

Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie — Now through Jan. 4, 2015

The city of Grand Prairie lights up this time of year with Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie, a two-mile path filled with hundreds of holiday scenes and four million twinkling Christmas lights. Half way through the drive-through route, you’ll come across Holiday Village and the Holiday Magic Lighted Walk-Through Forest. See an indoor laser light show, warm up with hot drinks and snacks, and see Santa at Holiday Village before completing the final two miles of Prairie Lights. Santa will be on site every night through Dec. 23; then he has to head back to the North Pole! For all the details, go to prairielights.org.

Ice! at the Gaylord Texan — Now through Jan. 3, 2015

If you’re a North Texas resident, it’s hard to miss talk of the spectacular ICE! exhibit at the Gaylord Texan each Christmas season. If you’ve never been, this is an absolute must for you and your family. This year’s exhibit features Frosty the Snowman and includes a LIVE ice-carving zone where you can watch a masterful ice carver create beautiful sculptures right in front of your eyes. The kids will also enjoy the giant ice slide and indoor snow tubing. This is a popular event, so be sure to get your tickets ahead of time to guarantee you’ll be able to get in when you get there.
